Encounter

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” JOHN 8:!2

Stunning as a cloud by day and fire by night may be, many of us can be satisfied with seeing the miracles and provision of God, yet be content to merely know Him from afar. But Exodus 25:8 shows us that God is really seeking a people who desire fellowship with Him, “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.”

And while each encounter with God is unique – whether a burning bush, blinding light, or night of wrestling like Jacob – we are never left unchanged from the experience! God fills us with new understanding and purpose. The key to meeting God then, is simply to actively seek Him. The Letter of James tells us, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (4:8)

“By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.”
Proverbs 3:19

Encounter

Take me to that place of Rest
To the mountain with skies of red
Where the earth it trembles and it shakes
Take me to that place

I want to be in that place of knowing
That you can do all things
That your purposes cannot be thwarted
That place of hearing and seeing

Take me to that place of cloud
Ablaze with fire and light
Of metal gleaming and living creatures darting
Amidst the Glory of your might

Take me to that place above
Where seraphim they fly
And the train of your robe it fills the temple
That place of truth and light

I want to be on the road to Damascus
Where Paul encountered you
The place of blinding light
The place of supernatural sight

Take me to that place of Rest
To the place of Calvary
Where Jesus died and rose again
And knew His victory
