“This rest implies a state of mind that feels no necessity for attempting anything in our own strength… (a) faith (that) so leans upon God, as to bring the mind into a state of sweet repose and confidence that God will help, and that there is no necessity for making any efforts in our own strength.” Charles G. Finney
REACHING FOR REST
Carve out a moment of quiet in a busy day, and rediscover the true source of inspiration and creativity in the One who made YOU!
A journey into Rest is a journey into God’s Love. Here are some suggestions you can follow as you travel along your journey towards uncovering the mystery of God’s Rest.
“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.” Heb. 4:1
Before you begin, still yourself. Close your eyes and breath in deeply and exhale slowly, with Matt. 11:28 in mind.
In a sentence or two, describe in writing one thing weighing heaviest, on your mind and heart.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matt. 11:28
Bring your list of concerns before Jesus as you listen to the first song: Everything.
Note down the thoughts impressions that came to mind as you listened to the song. Acknowledge who He is, thank Him for giving you revelation and for the good that He has store for you.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”Rom. 8:2
Listen to the second song: Rest and receive His promises and heart for you. Listen and linger. Repeat this process. Each time, opening your heart to receive even more of His Presence, goodness and plans for you.
Listen to the song: Encounter. Desire and ask for the grace to be in that place of spiritual authority over your circumstances because that’s where Jesus died to bring us, that place of being overcomers.
Listen to the song: Morning Sun. Receive His pleasure upon you. Linger and be refreshed.
